Welcome to our Called to Love: Egypt M site.

We have created this website and blog for a few purposes. We want to encourage the online community that God's work is not over as long as there are obedient and willing hearts. Second of all, we want this community to support and lift us up in prayer, as we present requests, ask for supplication or have thanksgiving. We will be posting about our thoughts, experiences and spiritual growth because it is the passion of our team to be held accountable to the body of Christ, to God and to ourselves; and we recognize that God calls us to be this way.

Please leave your thoughts and responses in the Comments section of each of our blogs.

We attended the Sudanese worship service this morning. It started at 10am and finished at about 12:30pm. Although it was long (I was told later that their worship service can last up to 6 hours!), I really enjoy it and did not feel 'bored'. Although we did not understand the language, we were worshipping God in unity. There was a lot of singing and dancing! Yes! Dancing! There was a moment when many local brothers and sisters going to the front, dancing and singing at the same time - well, I did dance a little bit, but not with many movements, until a sister came to me and invited me to dance with her ... So, we held hands and danced. I tried follow their hand and leg movements. Then my partner started to jump, then I jumped too. I guess we kept jumping for 2-3 minutes. I had never been jumping for so long! It was tiring, and I asked God for strenght to keep jumping ......

We attended the Egyptian worship service in the evening. It is a bit different. More high-technology equipments. Lots of songs, but no dancing. The singing style is different too - it's like a choir. And it is Communion Sunday, so we have the blessing to partake the bread and the cup with local brothers and sisters (and some foreigners).

So, we attended two worship services at two different churches today. It is a long day, and I am a bit exhausted. However, I am really thankful to be able to attend the African worship service. I like black people since I was a kid. Going to Africa is my childhood dream. Although I have been in Egypt for three times before, I only stayed for 2 days max. I was a tourist ... But it is a bit different this time. Worshipping God with my African brothers and sisters - it is God's gift to me. And I have learnt a lot from them, especially the Sudanese Christians - they are on refugee status in Egypt. Being forced to leave their home country and be separated from their beloved family and friends because of wars and conflicts, and with no hope of returning in the near future and reunited with their loved ones, the Sudanese Christians are joyful. You can tell it from how they worship God. Of course, there could be hurt deep inside their hearts, but they could lay down their burdens to God and come to worship Him with joy! This is something many Christians, incluyding myself, have to learn from them.

I looked at them, singing and dancing with joy to the True Almighty God ... These brothers and sisters are poor and living as minority and refugees, and they could worship God with such a joy. How about us? How about us in HK? For some people, going to church is a burden, not a joyous experience - you can tell it from how they participate in worship service ... I feel sad about it, and I asked myself - What can we do? What can I do? ... Honestly, I don't know, but I know that God is powerful. Nothing is impossible to God. So, I said a prayer in my heart - "Lord, help us, your children in HK, especially those in the English worship service to worship You with joy and a reverent heart."

Worshipping God with brothers and sisters in a foreign country helps me to understand more about what "the body of Christ" is. I like this experience, but I do miss the brothers and sisters in HK ...
