Welcome to our Called to Love: Egypt M site.

We have created this website and blog for a few purposes. We want to encourage the online community that God's work is not over as long as there are obedient and willing hearts. Second of all, we want this community to support and lift us up in prayer, as we present requests, ask for supplication or have thanksgiving. We will be posting about our thoughts, experiences and spiritual growth because it is the passion of our team to be held accountable to the body of Christ, to God and to ourselves; and we recognize that God calls us to be this way.

Please leave your thoughts and responses in the Comments section of each of our blogs.

First Half of Day 2 (slash 1st actual day in Egypt)

One rolled-up Papa John's delivery menu.
21 flies dead and counting.

After team happily sang Happy Birthday to Pastor Stera in Singapore (we arrived at midnight), we safely arrived in Cairo.
But not before getting into some issues with the Egyptian government.
After seeing my four team members safely pass through customs. It was my turn. After flipping through my passport, the customs officer told me to go "take a seat" by the wall. I didn't know what was going on! Did they believe that the washing powder I'd brought along in a Glad Ziploc bag was actually drugs? At least I wasn't the only that had to wait by the side. I asked the other Malaysian next to me if he knew why he was "in trouble" and nope, he had no idea either. So ok anyway after about 20 minutes, they finally gave me back my passport without telling me why I was held. Our CP (contact person) told us that it was probably just an identity check through random selection. What are the odds? She also said that someone else was held for two hours so I was actually quite fast. Ok so that was the scare of the day.

The other four are now asleep for an afternoon nap. I think they were exhausted after learning how to count from 1-199 in Arabic. We had the task of going to the local shops and buying something while speaking their language! We bought fruits. Does three apples, 3 mangoes and a bunch of grapes really cost
aishreen guini? That would be two pounds in Arabic. We also learnt how to say good afternoon. I hope we post the video of Pastor Stera demonstrating how that's done :)

After their afternoon nap, we're going for Prayer Walk. We're going to travel by metro/subway to an area where there are many M's and we'll be praying for them.
Please include the locals in your prayers as well.
We praise God for safely bringing our team to this m field!

They took my parents' passports as well and made them wait on the side. Scary stuff.

I also learned how to count in Arabic but forgot it all, lol.
